 | Yang Lu Chan (1799-1872) the founder of the Yang school of taijiquan is renown for his great martial art skill. During his lifetime, he was challenged constantly and was unbeatable. In spite of his powerful skill, he had a good character and never injured his opponents. As more people got interested in learning taijiquan, he gradually eliminated the jumps and leaps, and vigorous foot stamping from the form.
His son, Yang Jianhou (1839-1917) further revised the form. Yang Cheng Fu (1883-1917) the third son of Yang Jianhou, developed the form further and has made it the most popular Yang school of taijiquan today. The movements are naturally extended and relaxed, even and graceful, like drifting clouds and flowing stream, yet they have vigour. Known for its preventive and curative effects and simpler to learn form, Yang style taijiquan has today become the most practised school in China and the rest of the world.
The fourth generation of the Yang family , Yang Zhen Dou, third son of Yang Cheng fu, continues to carry out his family tradition of spreading and teaching the Yang style of taijiquan.

For beginners we introduce the short 49 Yang form. The importance of the basic principles of the Yang style are taught and lays the foundation for learning the traditional Yang style 103 forms.
